Adidas misspelled “Colombia” in advertisement

Columbia Spelling Mistake Adidas

Adidas made a major spelling mistake in its Copa America marketing campaign for Colombia’s national team, spelling “Columbia” instead of the correct “Colombia”:

The advertisements were pulled directly after the social media backlash from the company’s misspelling, which labeled the country “Columbia.”

“We value our partnership with the Colombian Football Federation and apologize for our mistake,” Adidas said in a statement. “We removed these graphics and are quickly installing new versions today.”

Adidas has sponsored Colombia, ranked No. 3 in the world, since 2011.

Unfortunately for all you football collectors out there, there were no shirts or jerseys issued with the spelling mistake, which surely would be worth a small fortune in a few years. However, if we come across any of the original “Columbia” marketing materials Adidas used in this marketing campaign, we’ll be sure to put it up for sale on Football Relics!
